Prehistoric Suns

This portfolio features the ancient solstice and equinox markers located in the American Southwest. The prehistoric people who lived there were uncannily attuned to the changing seasons, and have left a plethora of observatories. Considering that the sites were made thousands of years ago, their exactness is brilliant. The final photos are selenium-toned silver prints.

The site exploringrockart.com has helped me with my work on the ancient markers. Being able to see exactly what happens at one of the observatories allows me to compose the shot before the event, a great advantage.
